Local info and Attractions

Bordering 3 counties, Leicestershire, Northamptonshire and Rutland set in the beautiful Welland Valley;  Middleton is a quiet village with 4 pubs all serving food in the evenings and within walking distance from the cottage.   Rockingham (the castle and speedway) and Eyebrook Reservoir Fly-Fishing are less than 10 minutes away and  Market Harborough, Uppingham, Kettering and the A14 are just 15 minutes away.  Nearby is the historical town of Stamford; Burghley House (famous for the horse trials and beautiful house); Rutland Water (the largest man-made lake in the UK) and many other tourist attractions. brook.com

 Rutland Water 
The largest man made reservoir in Western Europe. A popular attraction offering fly fishing, water sports, cycling, leisure and wildlife conservation.

 Eyebrook Trout Fishery 
There is an abundance of wildlife to be seen at Eyebrook Reservoir Fly-Fishing and it is not unusual for sightings of Ospreys, Otters and Kingfishers. Ospreys give daily flying displays and are a lesson to anglers on how to catch the rainbow, blue and brown trout.   These rare birds are an exciting topic of conversation for any visitor or fishermen who witness these masters of the air in action.

 Burghley House 
One of the largest and grandest houses of the first Elizabethan Age. Built and mostly designed by William Cecil, between 1555 and 1587.
